The Fenix took the win, landing in the top
three of every graded category except runtime: 4,706 lumens at startup, 1,342
lumens still going after 15 minutes, third-best beam throw at 93 meters, and
the highest measured battery capacity in the test at 6,290 mAh from its
included 6,000 mAh cell. The OLIGHT finished second at 4.8 and owns the
sustained-brightness crown — brightest at 30 seconds (5,607 lumens) and still
brightest at 15 minutes (1,408) — while being about an inch shorter than the
Fenix, with a handy thumb dial for output control. Either is an easy
recommendation; the ACEBEAM, third overall at 5.2, is worth a look when the
price is right.
For the budget, the Wurkkos is the pick. At $40 and 5.31 inches, it started at
2,153 lumens, held 765 lumens at 15 minutes — beating several lights costing
twice as much — and measured 3,266 mAh against its 3,000 mAh rating. Other
bright spots: the Bushnell ran longest on high at 7.9 hours, the SOFIRN paired
the strongest battery output at 60.7 watts with a 5.4-hour runtime in the most
compact body tested, and every one of the eighteen lights survived the 2-meter
concrete drop — two shut off on impact but powered right back up.
The cautionary tale is the lumen arms race on the low end. The 100,000-lumen
Esgreen and 99,000-lumen Lylting both measured under 1,000 real lumens, and
the Lylting's claimed 10,000 mAh battery delivered 4,620 mAh. Advertised throw
distances deserve the same skepticism: they assume a barely visible 0.25 lux,
and at a realistic 10 lux the best result in the test was the Esgreen at 114
meters, with the Streamlight at 104. Buy on measured output, not the number on
the box — and remember that turbo ratings like the Nitecore's 7,434 lumens
last seconds, not minutes, before stepping down.
