The FANHAO is the pick for best overall. It finished with an average rank of
3.3 across every graded category, threw water the farthest at 29 feet,
posted 544 grams of jet force, tied for third on flow at 70 seconds, needed
a comfortable 4.4 lb of trigger effort, and shrugged off both the 6-foot
drop and the vehicle. At around $22 it is the strongest single-pattern
option here. The Sani-Lav finished second overall with an average rank of
3.8 — second strongest jet at 630 grams, second fastest fill at 65 seconds,
and completely undamaged by the drive-over — but at roughly $68 it costs
three times as much for a narrower margin.
For a multi-pattern nozzle, the Eden is the one to buy. At about $28 it
performed well in nearly every category: 604 grams of jet force, the only
dial nozzle in the jet force top five, an easy 2.1 lb trigger, an 88-second
bucket fill, a roughly 23-inch shower cone, and top ratings for mist. The
Rainpoint edged it on spray quality alone, earning the best possible rating
of one for the most natural rainfall pattern against the Eden's 1.5, and
sharing the top mist rating with the Eden and Flexzilla. On the budget end,
the $9 Gilmour is remarkable value if a single jet pattern is all that is
needed, moving more water than anything else in the group at 60 seconds and
still working after the vehicle cracked its plastic shell.
Two cautions are worth carrying into a purchase. First, effort varies far
more than the spec sheets suggest: the Sani-Lav Industrial, Gilmour Pro, and
Chapin all demand 8.4 lb or more to hold open, which becomes real hand
fatigue over an hour of watering, while the INAV8, Restmo, Craftsman, and
Eden all sit under 2.5 lb. Second, durability tracks construction, not
price. The Flexzilla was the only nozzle to leak after a routine 6-foot
drop and then shattered under the vehicle, the $44 Gardena was destroyed
outright, and the Ottoman, Dramm, and Viking were crushed. The Chapin,
FANHAO, Gilmour Pro, Sani-Lav, and Sani-Lav Industrial all came through the
same abuse still working, and the Green Mount, Melnor, Craftsman, and
Restmo escaped with superficial damage.
